F Hills, a venerable mid highly respected woman who Is well known to a groat many people in tills city, died at the home of her non, IC. K. Bills, this HHiriMni; about 7 o'uloek, the result of heart failure which was due to declining health. Sirs. Bills has been In poor health for'the past three years, and for a week or more has rapidly failed. Though her death was sudden, it was not entirely unlookcd for. Siio was a woman who waH greatly beioved by the members of her household and by ail who knew her, and iier death is a source of the Rincerost regret.The funeral services will be held at the home of K. E. Bills on D avenue Mon-day morning at 10.30 o'clock. The Bov W. \V Diehl, pastor of the Fourth •Street Methodist church, will be tha officiating clergyman. No further arrangements have yet been made for the services The interment will take place 111 lti\erode cemetery.Mrs. Bills would have been seventy-nine years of age had she lived until the twenty-sixth of next July. She is survived by her husband, one son, K. E. -Billie -of—Htie city, ■ and- -two daughter^— Mrs. C 11. Auracnt and Mrs. C. 11. Tuttle, both rosidents of Sterling. 8ho also leaves one sister, Mrs. L. 0. Gray, of Chihauhau, ilex. Hum.Michael Hathfoml Hess, for many years a highly respected and prominent resident of Jordan, died at the home of his son in-law, Henry Mellingor, In Jordan Friday evening at 5 o’clock. He has been in poor health for a number of years and has failed rapidly in the past six months. During the last month iiis condition has been very poor and ho was rendered almost helpless by tlio ravages of disease. Old age, coupled with a complication of diseases with which Mr Hess lias been afflicted for years, was the cause of dissolution.The funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. Mellingcr in Jordan Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock and At the Beformed Mennonite church in this city at 2 30 o'clock The Rev. William Miller, the pastor of the church, will olllciate at the services. Tie was united in marriAgc sixty-five yoafS ago to Miss Mnry Eshleman, at Lancaster county. Mrs. Hess died five years ago and is lmried in the Mennonite cemetery in this city.Twelve children, nine sons And three daughters, were born to the couple.Tu o of the sons. Michael and Benjamin, are dead, the former having passed away in Alaska. The surviving children ara the twin sons, Zaohnriah and Jeremiah of Jordan, Jacob of Kansas, Eli of Sterling. Emanuel of Jordan, Theodore of Sterling, Ephraim of Dixon, Mra. R. StnufTer of Jordan, Mrs. Henry Molling-er of Jordan and Mrs. Jacob TroUth of Dixon. The deceased also leaves a brother living in Lancaster county, Pa.Before moving to Illinois, Mr. Hess was a stone mason by trade, and hi$y work was said to be of a high order of merit.
