Amarillo, in the cellar since the first of the season, took 15 innings to edge Tulsa 4-3 in a marathon thriller. Albuquerque climbed into a virtual second place tie with San Antonio by knocking off front running El Paso 6-4. San Antonio squeaked by Austin 5-4. This left the Sun Kings one game ahead of San Antonio and Albuquerque. San Antonio whipped the Austin Senators with a two-run rally in the ninth. Ron Davis singled one runner home. Another scored as in hard rap went between the legs of Austin’s Charles Teacher for an y error. Catcher Jerry Grote ho mered for the Bullets in the sixth. Camillo Estevis, using a high hard one when he needed it, hand cuffed El Paso power. The Albu querque hurler struck out 13 bat ters and walked three. Amarillo’s Gold Sox finally beat the Tulsa Oilers as Ken Faulkner hit a decisive double to save Dick Burwell’s brilliant relief work on the mound. Two errors and pinch hitter Roy Martyka's gained Tulsa a tie in the ninth. The Oilers trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the eighth.
