1Races Scheduled At Lake Austin Today At 1:1Hailed as the biggest speed boa:racing event n the Southwest, the Longhorn Boat Club* card this Suncay on Lake Austin at City Park will get under wav at 1:30p m Admission will be 50 cents.Thrills and excitement galore are promised by club officials, whoj said that 100 drivers from over Texas and Oklahoma are expectedIto compete in the 11-race meet.Dr vers from Paris, Texas City, Sherman. Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston. Galveston, Baytown. Port Arthur, Shreveport, I,a . and Hugo.Okla., are expected to be on hand.Local pilots will include Milton Webb. Howard Webb. Chester Sal- j azar, Sammy New, George Keaton, Claude Bush, Shorty Green, Paul Torn, Buddy McCuiston, Newt j Kennedy.Austin owners entering but not driving their boats will include Cowboy Engelke. Paul Gregory. Doc Burditt, Billy Disch and George Kennedy.Races will be run in all classes from midget motors to 50-horsepower jobs that attain speeds up to 60 miles per hour.The meet is under sponsorship of the Lone Star Boat Racing Assoc.at ion. which has nine member boat clubs in the Southwest.
