impeached U. S. Judge Keeps Office In Defiance Of Custodian (By The Associated Press) MIAMI. May 15—Halstead L. Rit ter, ousted federal district judge, occupied the judicial suite in the post office here today in defiance of the building’s custodian. The Daily News said it learned the next step probably will be the changing of locks on the office doors, al though the federal officials were close mouthed on this subject. Ritter, who claims his removal by the Senate last month on im peachment charges was “unconsti tutional,” has been asked to vacate the suite by Postmaster William G. Bill, as custodian. The former judge said he would institute proceedings before the federal court in claims for salary, in this manner attacking the legal ity of the Senate’s action. He said he would continue to occupy the federal building suite here so as to have no break in this service rec ord.
