Little Stella, the four year old daughter, of Mr. Ed. Hood, had a very miraculous escape from death last Friday evening. While the child was in the act of crossingSpruce street, near Mr, It, D. Holt’sresidence, a horse and buggy came whirling around from John street running over the child, but strangeto say, without causing a single scratch. The occupant of the buggy,Miss Annie Lewis, stopped the horse almost immediately, and we don’t think, there is any blame attached to the young lady.Yesterday evening while strolling through the vast and fertile plantation of Mr, Asher Edwards, situated about one mile south-east from the city, we came across a solitary grave, which is located in a pleasant grove.A well preserved marble slab bears the following inscription: “In memory of Thomas Crane, of North Salem, Westchester county, N, Y„ who died August 29, 1821, aged 21 years 6 months and 16 days.” From this it w ill be seen that the remains were buried there 68 years ago, yet nobody in the neighborhood seems r I to know anything about it.
