Thursday, May 14, 1959'by John T. GupitIn my last article I stated that no doubt there was a son of Lewis Perkins, named John, but since then I have had an opportunity to Chefk Mrs. Welch’s Revolutionary Soldiers who came to Mississippi and! she does not name one as being John. There could have been a grandson possibly. As stated j befjpre James Perkins, son of Ress and} Elizabeth Perkins, was born in South Carolina, Nov. 19, 1753, He | married Margaret Chandler. Aftfer leaving South Carolina they lived in Georgia. In 1810 they rec^ved Passport to move and removed to Marion County, Mississippi.Ih the Probate Court Records of Marion Co., Miss, is the will and settlement of estate of James Perkins, The will is dated Nov. 18, 182|6.
