GupitIn my last article I stated that no ^oubt there was a son of Lewis Perkins, named John, but since then I have had an opportunity to chefk Mrs. Welch’s Revolutionary Soldiers who came to Mississippi and| she does not name one as being [John. There could have been a grandson possibly. The best thing is to forget that Lewis had a son or grandson named John j ’ .until further proof can b.e found.I jhave a more accurate genealo-gy ; on James Perkins family | which I will now give. As stated beffcre James Perkins, son of Ressand Elizabeth Perkins, was born in Slt;in South Carolina, Nov. 19, 1753. He j married Margaret Chandler. Aftbr leaving South Carolina they lived in Georgia. In 1810 they ree^ved Passport to move and removed to Marion County, Mississippi.Ih the Probate Court Records of Marion Co., Miss, is the will andsettlement of estate of James Per-kink The will is dated Nov. 18,182|6. In the will these are named, a Negro slave to work for wife and daughter while they lived and then to be freed, a daughterSusanna Lou Sanford, son Sarpii-el Peijkins^ son Ress Per ijnl daughter Nancy Brown, wife . Sf Moses Drown, these received $T, $10, $10, $5, respectively, the rest of the property to be divided between (three daughters ELizabhm f anner, Jane Smart and Margaret Perkins. Nathan P. Smart | and Cornelius Newman, witnesses, anti Hosea Davis was administrator.Of the above children I havenot been able to get a complete genealogy, but I do (have joinhof the records. Rees, Nancy, Elik? beth, ahd Samuel moved to Louisiana to what was then St. Landry Parish, later Calcasieu Parish.
