A banquet in the Student Union ballroom tonight will climax the year’s social activities for mem bers of Texas Tech’s faculty and staff. This second annual Campus Club spring social will honor six retiring or retired members of the Tech faculty. The banquet will begin at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Trent C. Root, vice president of South ern Methodist University and a former Tech dean. He will be in troduced by Dr. E. N. Jones, Tech president. Dinner Music Planned Haskell C. Taylor, Campus Club president, will preside at the banquet. Ray C. Mowery will give the invocation. Special dinner music will be played by the Tech String Quar tet, which is composed of Paul Ellsworth, Margaret Ammer, Dwight Pounds and Rowena Ste nis. The dinner and music are be ing planned by Tom B. Stenis. Group singing will be led by William R. Geisert. Members of the banquet com mittee include: Dr. Mina W. Lamb, food: Miss Sue Rainey, flowers; and Mrs. Troy Lockard, decorations and table arrange ments. Guests To Be Introduced Special guests will be introduced by President Jones, following which the six honorees will be presented by their respective aca demic deans and be given life memberships in the Campus Club. They include: Dr. Otto Vin cent Adams, Mrs. Edna Walker Buster, Miss Mabel Deanne Er win, Ernest W. Gibson, Carl Hen ninger, and Mrs. Jonnie McCreary Michie. Adams, professor of civil en gineering and dean of the En ginering Division from 1932-1949, will retire June 1. He joined the Tech faculty in 1927. As regis tered professional engineer in Texas, Adams received his B. S. degree in civil and industrial en gineering from Colorado AM, his M. S. in engineering from Michigan and an honorary doc torate of science from Colorado AM. Joined Faculty in 1927 Mrs. Buster, associate profes sor of clothing and textiles, also joined the Tech faculty in 1927 and will retire June 1. She re ceived her B. S. from Texas State College for Women and her M. A. from Columbia University. Miss Erwin who joined the Tech faculty in 1926, is professor and head of the Clothing and Tex tiles Department. She received a B. S. degree from Purdue Uni versity and an M. A. from Colum bia University. She also will re tire June 1. Gibson retired July 16, 1954, after serving as assistant pro fessor of accounting from 1944. Ie holds a B. A. degree from Transylvania College and an M. A. from the University of Kentuc ky. He also is a Certified Public Accountant. An associate professor of Ger man, Henninger came to Tech in 1926 and retired June 1, 1954. He received a B. A. from the Uni versity of Indiana and an M. A. from the University of Ilinois. Mrs. Michie is an original mem ber of the Tech faculty, coming to Tech when it opened in 1925. She is professor and head of the Foods and Nutrition Department and holds B. S. and M. A. de grees from Columbia University. She will retire June 1.
