Law Prevents Misfit Marriage.Without apparent thought of the incongruity of such a union '‘Uncle’7 Henry Rector, 53 years old, of Shawnee | township, appeared at the courthouse in Covington Monday and asked for a license to wed Rosa Yeazel, a young girl fourteen years of age. Altho no objection was lodged on the part of the girl's parents Deputy Clerk .Roy Sanders recalled the fact that the girl had figured as the plaintiff in a sensational paternity case in the circuit court a few months ago and refused the license. Angered at the refusal the aged would-be bridegroom sought out Judge Schoonover and endeavored to persuade him to overrule the deputy’s action. The judge assured him that the marriage of a girl under 16 would be illegal and voidand was not to be considered. Rector*then left the courthouse declaring that he would get a license somewhere and marry the girl in spite of all the laws and officers in the country, but up to the latest reports he was still single.Rosa Yeazel, the juvenile bride, is the girl who caused the arrest of her stepfather, David Corey, last winter on the charge of being the father of her unborn babe. While Cory was in jail the girJ, thru her mother's influence, made another atfadavit and laid the cause of her ruin to a cousin of hers, her statements thus complicating the case until it was impossible to convict either of the men. Two months ago, shortly after she was 14, her baby was born. Henry Rector, who desires to marry her, is a widower, 53 years of-1! age and the father of seven children, all of whom are older than the girl he desires to make their mother-in-law.Verily it would seem that there is abundant work for home missionary societies on the banks of the Wabash!
