As some of the readers ui TiiK Gazette may not be familiar with the case, it will not be out oi place to give a briel history.of it. The plaintiff, Johanna Schrieker, is the wiumv oi Lurcuzv Schrieker, who at his death—-in last July-, lelt an estate reputed to be worth S'JOO,-m. Before the marriage of the plaintiff tothe deceased, she signed an anti nuptial contract, whereby she forfeited her right of dower—which was one third ol the estate—and agreed to accept in lieu thereof, ?2i,000. Upon the death ol her husband, Mrs, Sebneker claimed she was entirely ignorant oi the contents ol the contract— that she was led to believe it was a document of another kind and that she had not the slightest knowledge ol the value of her husband's estate. Thereupon she immediately began pro-eeedings to set aside the contract for the payment of the §20lt;KX), and to establish her right of dower. The suit was pending about nine months. Five minutes before going to trial yesterday the parties to the suit came u an agreement, wherebylbe widow receives $83,000 in cash, andnotes, claims and mortgages held by the Schrieker estate against George Ott, amounting in the aggregate to 563,000. Also the right to occupy 'the homestead of the late Lorenzo Schrieker for six months from the day’ of settlement of the suit. She also becomes tlie owner of all furniture in the homestead, together with certain live stock, buggy*, etc. There are a few other provisions m the agreement, hut are of little importance to.the public.Airs. Schrieker, on her pdJi;, in consideration of the conditions mentioned above, agrees to release all rieht, title and interest in the Schrieker estate. The agreement
