. lowans die inBy Kristophere* OwensThe GazetteTwo people died in Sunday morning crashes in Iowa and Dubuque counties.The Iowa State Patrol saidLyle Ludvicek, 42, of WestAmana, was driving north on Highway 151 about 9:40 a.m. just south of Iowa County Road F-12 (the Swisher turnoff) when he passed another vehicle and re-entered the northbound lane.Three motorists going south braked to avoid Ludvicek’s sta tion wagon, and the driver of the third car, Shaun Meister, 23, of Cedar Rapids, swerved into the northbound lane to avoid colliding into the two vehicles in front of him.Meister’s car and Ludvicek’s station wagon collided, the Patrol said.Meister’s car ended up on the east shoulder. Ludvicek’s station wagon went into theeast ditch.The Patrol said Ludvicek died at the scene, about three miles north of Amana. His passenger, Jerry Ludvicek, 12, of West Amana, was uninjured.Meister was in serious con dition List night at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.Funeral arrangements forLudvicek are pending at Klos-ter Funeral Home in Marengo.Dubuque deathKevin Tauke, 19. of Gutten berg, was killed in a crash at 6:41 a.m. Sunday about three milts west of Rickardsville. The Dubuque Sheriffs Depart men t said Tauke was driving north on Highway 52 when he failed to negotiate a curve. His car left the road and struck several farm tractors parked at a fann implement dealer, the department said.Tauke was ejected from his car and died instantly from head and upper body injuries.the department said. His mother, Linda Tauke, said her sonwas returning home at the time of the accident.Tauke’s funeral arrangements are pending at Kramer Funeral Home in DyersviUe.
