BY JIM MOSHER imli High School student council is sponsoring a screening of three episodes from ‘My Life as a Dog’, a made-for-television series filmed in Gimli last year. Student council president Amanda Eyjolfson has pre-screened one of the three episodes the council plans to present Thurs., May 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The students will select which three episodes will be shown. They are concen trating on ones that feature prominent Gimli scenes. “It’s more for the community than it is a major fundraiser,” said Eyjolfson, who notes admission prices are $2 for stu dents, $3 for children and $5 for adults. Manitoba Premier Gary Filmon has been invited to the screening. As well, Gimli native Norma Bailey, who directed some of the film’s episodes, has been invited. Tana Johnstone, student council vice president, says a producer from the Credo Entertainment group will be on hand to introduce the episodes. “They’re also going to be bringing out a large projection screen,” she said. Tickets for the upcoming screening are available at G C Grocery, Pharmasave, Taylor Pharmacy and Tergesen and Sons in Gimli. Council secretary Sigrid Stefanson says the screening will be particularly enjoy able for Gimli residents, many of whom played bit parts as extras in many of the Michael Yarmush plays the lead role in ‘My Life as a Dog’ film’s 22 episodes. Eyjolfson says the Credo/Atlantis Films production does not look like some low-budget Canadian films. “The town really looks nice in the film,” she said. “That may be because we haven't seen green grass for a while.” Johnstone noted that many town busi nesses are featured in the film including Tergesen and Sons, the Gimli Theatre and the Country Resort hotel. Gimli students are busy canvassing business for support to help defray expenses. Coffee, juice, punch and dain ties will be served after the screening. ~ i Wi
