Diplomas were awarded to 268 graduates at Dakota State Col lege, Madison, Saturday. Central South Dakotans in cluded in the list for bachelor of science in education degrees were: Gladys Burnison Pugh, Alpena, Velma Feldhus, Janet Hausschild, Cathy Larson, Charles Larson and Larry Pick ering, all of Arlington; Charles Richardson, De Smet; Mary Ward, Howard; Susan Meister and James Noyes, both of Hu ron; Bernice Schubloom, Miller; Barbara and Dan Mortimer, both of Oldham; and Elizabeth Baruth, Woonsocket. Bachelor of science nonteach ing degrees were bestowed up on Gerry Larson and John Ol son, Arlington; Kenneth Larson, Oldham; Marvin J. Mullaney, Orient; and Wilbert Zirpel, Woonsocket. Two-year secretarial degrees were given to Peggy Kasperson, Arlington; Margaret Larson, De Smet; and Marvin J. Mullaney, Orient, Fifteen Central South Da kotans were graduated Friday at the University of South Da kota, Springfield. Recipients of bachelor of sci ence in education degrees were Thomas Lynn Albertson, Lake Preston, Wayne N. Austin, John Howard Denton and Joane Kay Farus, all of Pierre; Verlyn D. Button, Carthage; Larry Eugene Eiick, Lane; Julie Ann Franck, Gann Valley; Gary L. Grove, Clark; Charles Jeffery McDon nell, Highmore and Marcia Ann Wittmeier, Arlington, Associate of applied science degrees were awarded to Alane Finn, Midland; Mario L. Han sen, Redfield, Charles A. Lar son, Clark, and Barbara Kay Shoup and Greg L. Shoup, both of Pierre. Two Huron natives, Andrea Cook Brown and Judy Fryer Hanson, were among students graduated at South Dakota State University May 5 with bachelor of science degrees. Five students at South Dakota State University were recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Phi Kappa Phi selects its members from the upper 10 per cent of the grad uating class. The initiates were Charles Hoffman and Donald Ruff, Hu ron, Wally Sorenson, Lake Preston, Rita Johnson, Letcher, and Greg Schmidt, Rockham. Craig Cronin, Huron, was re cently awarded a $200 American Dairy Association of South Da kota scholarship at South Da kot State University. Janet Hoover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin H. Hoover, Hu ron, was named to the fall semester dean’s list at Evangel College, Springfield, MO. As a freshman majoring in psychol ogy she earned at 3.68 grade point average out of a possible 4.0, Keith Hainy, Wessington Springs, a recent initiate into Alpha Zeta, an honorary agri culture organization, was awarded a $300 scholarship at the annual Ag-Bio Proxy Coun cil Honors Banquet recently at South Dakota State University, Brookings, Stan Lamb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lamb, and Kendal Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Thompson, all of Willow Lake, were initiated into Farm House Fraternity at South Da kota State University recently. Roy Engelbretson was ap pointed general chairman for the 1973 Miss University of South Dakota, Springfield beau ty pageant, Lennis Craig Knight, Gann Valley, doctor of veterinary medicine, and Gregory Lee Ja cobson. Huron, bachelor of ar chitecture, were candidates for their degrees at Kansas State University commencement Fri day. Twenty-one Central South Da kotans were among 257 students graduated at Black Hills State College Friday. The graduates for bachelor of Science degree include: James D. Ferley, Pierre, Bill G. Hall, Agar; Jerrold J. King, High more; Elizabeth A. Schmidt, Redfield; Robert L. Templeton, Miller, and Diane M. Venjohn, Miller. Those receiving a bachelor of science in education were: Beverly A. Berdahl, Gettysburg; KandiskK, Decker, Huron; Linda N. Frick, Fr. Pierre; Mark and Mary E. Larscheid, both of Pierre; Marsha A. Martin, Pierre; Charlotte D. McMahon, Huron; Michael R. Pangburn, Miller; Linda Schulz, Ft. Pierre; Melinda Smith, Pierre; Carolyn Stahl, Huron; Ruth A. Stenberg, Onida, and Kathleen J. Wilson, Wessington Springs. Janet L. Deake and Patsy L. Smith, both of Fr. Pierre, were awarded degrees in one-year secretarial. Commencement, for the class of 1973 at Northern State Col lege was Friday at Aberdeen. Dr. Robert D. Benton, state superintendent of public instruc tion, Des Moines, Iowa, de livered the main address. Students from Central South Dakota who graduated with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education were: Steven Richard Neuharth, Al pena; Audrey B. Krahn, Arling ton; Diane Lynn Kegler, Athol; Larry Allen Sutton, Clark; Bar bara Ann Felderman and Cleo Nadene Woodfork, both of Do land; Wanda L. Bachelor of science degrees were awarded to Jerald Baum and Kenwood Douglas Johnson, both of Alpena; Hartman L. Erickson, Arlington; Michael D. Huss and Charles B. Witte, both of Faulkton; Michael Edward Howe, Highmore; Kerry D. Mc Daniel and Lars L. Ott, both of Huron; Rodney Jerome Van Overschelde, Letcher; Donald R. Enger, Miller; Gail L. O’Don nell, Orient; Damon H. Milner, Pierre; Gerald D. Christman, Redfield and Gregory G. Redi ger, St. Lawrence. Those receiving bachelor of science degrees were: Gary Stuart Ernst and Kenneth Ed ward Osberg, both of Pierre and Perry Dean Haaland, Red field. Judith Baum, Alpena, and Kathie Dutt, Gettysburg, were graduated with an associate of arts degree. Ted Mitchell, Clark, a North ern senior who was killed this semester in an accident, was awarded a bachelor of science degree posthumously.
