San Francisco — Twenty one preliminary awards went out this week to high school students from Redwood region schools who are finalists in the essay contest conducted by the Youth Work Committee of the Redwood Region Conservation Contest, Mrs. Kenneth C. Smith, Willits, committee, chairman, anounced recently, * “‘’home of the contest, which was open to all high school stu dents enrolled in region schools, was “What the Forest Products Industry Means to My Community Those presented awards 28 A result of the preliminary, judg ing by members of the faculty af Mumboldt State College and the Ukiah chapter of the Amer ican Association of University Women, were: Ila Faye Harris, Arcata Union High school; Jact Branham, Eureka Senior High school; Cecile Hansen, Sue Eps ping, Joyce Withers, and Bon nie Nylander, Fortuna Union High school; John Hampson, Del Norte High school; Jeanne Robbins,Ann Carlson, Edward Mankinen, Helen Dale * San ders, Don Jameson, Davitt Lipi paluota and Peggy Larson, Fort Bragg Union High school; Dan ica Pearson, Sandra Lee Palm er, Virginia Thompson, Shir ley Henrichsen, Patricia Otto hin and Claudia Gibson, Clo verde Union High school and Billy Standifer, Geyserville Union High school. . Another group of judges from HSC and the Ukiah chap ter of the AAUW will go over the work of these contestants and should announce the final winners of the essay contest some time within the next two weeks.
