When the first soft strains of Paul Whiteman’s second string band, headed by Zez Confrey, the “wizard of the keys”, floats over the main floor of the gym, utterly unrecognizable as a place of athletic combat, the -magic hour of ten will have arrived, and the event of events, the peer without a peer, will have begun.The selection, and the ultimate signing of the famed Zez and his orchestra i marked a step forward which no previous committee had dared to* take. Zez will be here himself in, person, seated ‘before the resplendent ivory keys that are but too anxious to do 'his every bidding. In addition, Georg-e Gershwin, well-known composer oi present day pieces and himself a piano player, second only to the renowned Zez, will play at a second piano, the two a tax on the superlatives o-f any man. The orchestra is ranked by Paul Whiteman, the diminutive Californian as his second string outfit. This same combination, augmented by some few more pieces, is the Whiteman band that plays solo work in Carnegie Hall in Mew York.
