This is now one of the best mountain roads that we have ever traveled over. At the Toll Gate, at the foot of mountain is to be found the residence of Mr. Dooley, whero the very best of accommodations are to bo had—Mrs. Dooley is one of the most pleasant landladys that we have met. It is 18 miles from Baker Citv to theToll Gate.Clarks Creek.—On last Thursday we visited this mining camp and found that all the miners were busily at work, and that a good mining season is anticipated by all the citizens of Clarks Creek. This is one of the best mining camps in Baker county. Here we also found M essrs. Buckland Virtue and Geo. W. Lake with stocks of goyds in store, adapted to the wants ol the community. The stocks of both these houses are rather low, a« they have not received their spring goods yet. We also found that Mr. Richardson, instead'of Messrs, Buekland Viitue, had bought Mr. Curtis’ Saloon, aud Rich is always pleased to have his friends givr- n i j a a call. The Clarke Creek Brewery, kept by Messrs. Trunk A Rust, is a favorite place of resort, Mr, E. Wendt keeps the Livery Stable and also accommodates the weary traveler in a comfortable and home like manner.Eldorado.—At this camp the streets of the town are desertedyluring the daytime, as all the miners here are at work in their claims. There has been pretty good prospects struck in a tunnel running into the hill back of the town. The general impression s that the miners will do well in this camp tin-present season. Great hopes are now placed on ike benefits to be derived from the Big Ditch since Messrs. Packwood Carter have been placed in charge of it. They have all the men they have been able to secure at work cleaning out and putting the Ditch in repair and good running order, aud expect to have the water running in it within ten or twelve days, The minors have confidence in Messrs, Packwood Carter, and renderthem all the aid in their power. Mrs. Hardman keeps the Eldorado Hotel, sets a goodtable and furnishes clean beds, Edwards ARichardson run the Eclipse Saloon, and are always pleased to have their friends call asthey pass along. T. J. Brower keeps a fin©stock of goods and is the agent for Welle, Fargo A Co. Messrs Packwood Co. also have a fine asortment of clothing Ac., instoie which they are selling at most reasonable prices. The future of Eldorado has theappearance of being bright.Malheur City.—This town is locatedabout one and a half miles from Eldorado, and is surrounded by good paying mines and everybody is at work. The miners here, as well as at Eldorado, look to the Big Ditch to help them out in their mining operations.Malheur is a pretty clean little town, andhas the appearance oi being a good place for business. Here we found Miss Mary Collins with a good stock of goods in store and in a first class fire proof cellar, ready to attend to the wants of customers. We alsofound J. Devereaux as the proprietor of afine saloon with two good billiard tables in it; and there we also found our friend Wm. Harper, as mine host of the hotel of the place. He sets a good table and the beds are good, clean and neat.Amelia,—At this camp the miners are doing well. Messrs, Barnhart A Quinn have been rumiing in tiueir claims for some time, aud c l turning their water off of their sluice boxes the other day the gold that made its appearance was a preity sight to see. We have not learned the amount of their clean up, but it mu»t have been large. At all of .in above camps we received a goodly number of new subscribers to the Bedrock Democrat, with the promise of many moie. The citizens across the mountains treated us well and invited us to pay them another visit, which we intend to do when we can und time.Tier RosEDALi5.-M.rs. Now, kind friends, I bid you farewell, leaving you tobe.'rewarded by Him who hath said, Lias-much as you have done it unto the least of thase, my children, you have done it unto me.” Yours, very Gratefully,Rev. L. A. POWELL.Success Based upon Merit,— It is a subject of general remark, among both wholesale and retail druggists, that no medicine introduced to the American public has evergaiued such a pppujbrity and met with so large a sale in all parts of the land, in }he same length of time, as has Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery. This cannot depend upon its having been more largely advertised than any oilier medicine, as such is not the case. The correct explanation, we toink, is found in the fact that this medicine produces the most wonderful and perfect cures of very bad cases of bronchial, throat and lung diseases, is undoubtedly the most perfect and efficient remedy for all kinds of Goughs that has ever been introduced to the public, and at the same time possesses the greatest oi blood purifying and strengthening properties that medical science has been able to produce, thus rendering it a sovereign remedy, not only in the cure of Consumption, Bron-ehetis, Hoarseness and Coughs, but also for all diseases of the liver aud blood, as scrofu-ulmis diseases, skin diseases, blotches, rough skin, pimples, black specks and discolorations. It lias, tliereiore, a wide range of applicationand usefulness, and it not only gives the most perfect satisfaction to all who use it,but far exceeds the expectations of the most sanguine, thus eliciting the loudest praise, and making permanent living advertising mediums out of all who use it. For these reasons it is that there is not perhaps a druggist in all the whole domain of this continent, who tries to please his customers and supply their wants, that does not keep and sell large quantities of this most valuable medicine. The Veto Sustained—A Washing-ton dispatch, of April 28th, says: The Senate, after a long discussion, refused to pass tlie Finance bill over the President,s veto, by a vote of ayes34, nays, 30, Ail the inflation Senators voted to pass the bill over the veto,jOilI 3I oulog Ri me I Jm I me \ Co w i 1 goi prc 1 an i Sat
