TIPTON—Winfield - Mt. Union's track team won the class C district title here Friday night with 48 points, beating out Miles which had 40 points. Solon was third with 38 and Clarence fourth, 29. There were 22 teams in the meet. Miles won the mile relay, the last event, but was disqualified allowing the Wolves to capture the title. They were third in the mile relay but the disqualification moved them to second. Three WMU athletes qualified for the class C state meet in in dividual events and three relay teams qualified. Steve Norder won the 100-yard dash in :10.2 He ran on the winning Wolfpack mile medley with Duane Johnson, Monte Thomson, and Chuck Reighard which had a 3:48 time and on the first place 880-yard relay team with Bob Nelson, Reigh ard and Johnson. The time was 1:36.1. Reighard ran a fine 2:01.66 anchor on the medley team. John Busbee won the discus with a toss of 139'5 and Jim Carlson was second in the shot at 45’9”. Placing third which could qualify for the state if it meets certain standards or beats a first in another district were Clive Prandi, discus, 125 ° 7”; Jack Marston, pole vault, 9’6” and Johnson, 220-yard dash,24.0. Runners on the mile relay team were Nelson, Lance Chrisinger, Jim Chrisinger, and Reighard. Mark Bitting was fifth in the 180 yard low hurdles.
