Monhagen Hose Company Votes to Purchase an Automobile Fire Truck — Expected Sept. 1. The always up-to-date Monhagen Hose Company, at a special meeting Tuesday evening, voted to pur chase an automobile fire truck. The truck is to be a com bination hose wagon and ¢ engine and will be one of the finest and most modern that can be secured. “Mons” will buy the automobile truck and pay for it themselves and the tax payers will not be asked to expend one cent. The truck is to be delivered on or before September 1 and in all probability will be seen for the first time on the occasion of the big fire parade in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Fire Department on September 9. The new auto fire truck will not be the heavy, ungainly one that New burgh purchased, but rather will be of a lighter style which can be put in any section of the city as quickly as a team of horses could do it. As has been the case with all of the great public improvements, Monhag ens will purchase the truck and after it is proven that it is a great and val uable addition to the fire , the city will support it. It will not re quire oats every meal; the only ex pense will be for gasoline and care of the machine which will be small. The committee on the purchase of track, which has been investigating the matter for several months and which has been given the power to close the necessary negotiations, is composed of President F. W. Elliott, Foreman H. J. Shelley, Major A. B. McIntyre, W. B. Royce and F. B. Den ton. At the meeting Tuesday night the invitation from Lawson Hose Company of Newburgh to participate in the parade at Newburgh on Sept. 30, is accepted and every member of the company will try to be on hand.
