Local V. F. W. Post Acts For Returning VeteransCommander Jas, F. Baker of local Post No. 2214 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars has been informed by Campaign Headquarters (Chicago) that in the organization’s current nation-wide drive to raise a $1,500,000 Welfare Fund for returning war veterans a considerable number o£ Posts throughout the country have reached their assigned quotas and some have exceeded them by sizeable amounts.“Our local unit, Post No. 2214, is j striving to raise $500.00, our quota of this Welfare Fund,” says Commander Baker. “While contributions from our membership will add up to a good share of it, quite a few of our members are In the Armed Services and we naturally are not asking them to give to a fund created for their benefit. Therefore, we axe inviting the public-to help us reach our goal Gifts frpm everyone are needed so that this time, when our boys come home, heip will be available to them at the time when they most need it, I appeal to citizens of Cullman, Ala., to give now-—Not Too Little, Not Too Late.”The entire amount of the Welfare Fund—$L50Q.OOO—is earmarked for expansion of the organization's Service and Welfare Program for returned war veterans and for enlargement of the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ National Home for widows and orphans of members, which is located a£ Eaton Rapids, Michigan.S.
