Eden Wool Brings 25 Cents The Eden wool market again hit the headlines this week, when the Daniel Warehouse sold 70,000 lbs. of the Conning Winberly clip at 25 cents to Enslie Oglesby and Herman Diebitsch, buyers for Hills Oglesby, Boston. The sale was made Monday, and the clip delivered Tuesday, and it was the first sale in Texas to fetch 25 cents for a 1939 clip—Eden Echo. Paving Contract Let Contract for the paving of sev eral miles of Highway No. 151, be tween Menard and Mason, was let last week by the State Highway Commission to Allhands and Bril ey, contractors, for the sum of $15,600. Work on the highway will begin about June 1, according to information received here today. Menard Messenger, Mason-Kimble County Ranch Sells at $12 Per Acre Wes Smith of Mason has sold the old Cummings headquarters ranch to William L. Volkman, Men ard County ranchman. The price was $12 an acre. The land is in Kimble and Mason coun ties and consists of 4,078 acres of valley and rolling land. Walker Volkmann, brother of the purchas er, is in charge of the property. Plans are to specialize in the production of registered Rambou illet sheep and Angora goats with some good Hereford cattle. Four springs and two windmills supply the water for the ranch.—Kerr ville Times. Ships Calves Walker White, ranchman of Ma son county, has shipped from the Brady stockpens 150 heifer and steer calves, the mixed bunch av eraging 400 pounds and bringing 8 1-2 to 9 1-2 cents. The cattle were shipped to feedlots in Ilinois.—Ma son County News. Celebrate Anniversary Seventy guests, friends and rela tives of Mr .and Mrs. Dock Joy, gathered at their home near Camp Allison Sunday to pay homage to one of Sutton county’s oldest couples. The occasion was the fifty-first wedding anniversary. A barbecued dinner was served. The children are: Mrs. Marion Adams of Sonora; Cash Joy of Roosevelt; Artie Joy of Sonora; Dave Joy of Roosevelt; Meredith Joy of Camp Allison; and Wylie Smith of Burnet. Mr. Smith was accompanied by his wife. He is a son of Mrs. Joy by a former mar riage.—Devils River News.
