(From Thursday’s Day Courter.) Mr. and Mrs. Newton Coberly of Newbury Park celebrated their fiftieth anniversary Tuesday. Friends gath ered from far and near to offer their congratulations and join in the festiv ities. The gathering was held under the trees back of the Newbury Park post office building. The honored couple received many presents from their friends. Among them being a purse of gold. A bounteous luncheon was served. Mr. Coberly is a native of Iowa, and his wife is a native of Nebraska. They were married in Kansas in 1867. They came to California 35 years ago and have made their home in this state since. For the past 12 years they have been engaged in carrying the mail between the Newbury Park post office and Camarillo. Mr. Co berly has been an invalid for several years. When he was unable to con tinue the work, Mrs. Coberly took it up and has not missed a trip. This work and caring for her husband has kept her busily engaged. H. Pratt, John Heckman, Richard Heckman, Mrs. M. k. Thompson, Mrs. S. J. Hays, Mrs. 8. L. Martin and family, Mr. and Mrs. IC. C. Arnett and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Hayes and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Patton, S. P. Hayes. From Los Angeles: Miss L. Engelie. From San Pedro, Mrs. Ida Duncan ‘and daughter, Alice, Mr. and Mrs. Ar chie Duncan and son. From Camarillo: Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Conrad, Mrs. M. E. Sebastian, Mrs. R. B. Ma han, B. Mahan. From Eden, Texas: Miss Molly Burk, Mrs. Mary Coberly daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Coberly, Charles F. Coberly, their son, and Mrs. Lucy Stiles of Los Angeles, Mrs. Coberly’s sister, were the relatives present.
