Pryor, of Oak Ridge, who ; works in the Fairmount mines, was the victim of a most unfortunate accident ' on Friday last. While setting posts in Mine No. 1, a large quantity oi slate suddenly gave away and fell upon him. The injury inflicted was principally confined j to one leg, the foot and ankle being bad- j Iv crushed and the bone broken above i the knee. It was decided that an am- j . putation was necessary, and Iff. Hepler, I assisted by other physicians, performed the operation successfully, making the amputation about two inches above the !ankle. fie suffered much pain but at !1last accounts was improving. iOn Monday, while working in the i same mine, .Joseph Krautbauer was j caught under a tall of i-oaiuiid lnul one; leg badly injured. On account of the leg I being badly swollen the physicians wine j unable to deride to what extent lie was j injured, but thought there were no bones j broken. !
