Agt, Indianapolis, Ind.OBITUARY.John Betts was born in Hamilton County, Indiana, June 21st, 1825, and moved with his mother and step-father, Stephen Sims, from Boone County to Clinton County near Middle Fork, in 1S36. John Betts aud Matilda -Boggs were married September 2d, 1847. To them were born four children, William, Henrv, Rachel and Albert, only two of whom are living. Matilda Betts departed this life December 29th, 1878. John andMatilda Betts united with the Middle Fork Baptist church May 1868, and lived consistent Christian lives. John Betts and Kate E. Stockton were married November 21st, 1879, to this marriage three children were born, of whom Robert survives. He moved to Galveston in the spring of 1S83. John Betts was one of the charter members of the Galveston Universalist Church, organized in March, 1894. He was a firm believer In universal salvation.
