CACHE CREEK, May 8.—Mr. Pe terson, dredge master on the big dredge here has a full crew at work getting things in shape to start active work within a few weeks. Mr. Anderson, who 's operating a big hydraulic plant on Falls Creek and Mr. Hillman, who owns rich, ground on Dollar returned from short business trip to Anchorage. Both men have spent the entire winter on their ground installing new plants and moving camp in preparation for a big season’s work. Hugh Price, operating on Short creek, is getting things in shape for the summer. Mr. Price will employ several men. Mr. Al Wolf, who has operated the big hydraulic plant on Thunder creek, known as the old Ellis prop erty, is busy these days moving his plant above the old workings. Mr. Wolf has some very promising ground there and looks forward to a successful season. Several men will be worked on these claims. The Harper boys, old sourdoughs who have mined from Patagonia to Point Barrow and better known as Charley and Al, are managing the Murray property on Nugget creek this season and have things in shape for the Spring thaw. Dick Arorick of interior fame busy these days hauling hydraulic pipe from Peters cany er n to his prop er upper Cache creek. H. A. Schell, who bought the Har per proper has his outfit in camp and has several men getting out tim ber below Carlson’s gulch. Frank Jenkins who operates on upper Willow creek, has just com pleted hauling his outfit in. Mr. Jen kins had added considerably to his plant and will work several men. Chas. Cooper and Bert Dwyer ar working the John Rice ground this season on Peters creek. This ground has been one of the big producers of upper Cache creek and is very promising.. Bud is a young man from Tacoma, and of course everyone knows “Smiling Charlie’ from Sew ard. He is one of the young old-tim ers, having gone to Valdez in the good old days. Other new properties in the dis trict are Tom Jones and H. L. Smith of Seward, the latter known from Hyder to the Arctic slope as “Pio neer” Smith. They have taken over the Cliff Hall property on Peters creek at the mouth of the canyon. Munro Cast, operating on Poorman, has all his supplies in camp ready for the big thaw. Mr. Cast expects his old partner, Charles Mack, to join him too. Mr. Mack has spent the winter looking over the East. Dick Francis, who mines on Long creek is busy these days getting the ast of his freight in camp before the break-up. Elmver Carlson, discoverer of the amous Carlson gulch, just returned rom spending the winter at his home near Centralia. s Hanson, who owns Inable roperty on lower Willow creek, has spent the winter trapping in the vicinity of Martin creek. Henry Peters, discoverer of Peters creek, is on big property ready for the summer's work. Most of the boys in the district mushed over to Jim Murray's elec tion day to cast their ballots for the right man. The Alaska Road Commission has completed freighting in supplies to Peters creek bridge and is getting things in shape for extensive road building.
