si:trwwVibirto1istlWhen in the course of human events it becomes necessary for the Elks to take hold of any thing, from that moment the success of that particular affair is assured. Some few weeks ago the idea of giving a benefit amateur performance was suggested. The idea was taken up and after some little and careful consideration, the young ladies of Trinity Gu’ld, and the gentlemen of the Eiks, agreed to undertake the production of “Pinafore.” the proceeds to go for the benefit of both. The project was at once begun and the work and responsibility placed upon Mrs. I), b. Bernard and Dr. A. C. McAlpni. That the selections were the very best which could have been, made, the splendid success of the initial performance peaks in highest terms of praise.Although the first nights of all home talent productions are not usually expected to be as good as the later ones, the large audience which assembled last night to give “Pinafore” a warm greeting indicated that Warren people had the idea that the persons in the production had their parts so well perfected that the first night would be as good as any, and their judgment was correct, for it would be hard to make much improvement on last night’s performance, (except, perhaps, the curtain dropping scene at the end of the first act.)Whan -von entered the houseScbXXXrJ.]1J(c]13
