City of Cincinnati disgraced by the City Council*The following proceeding* of the Chty Council of Cincinnati apeak for themselves We ask our readers to calmly read them and then gay whether there ia anything else under the sun except the infernal liquor traffic that could induce twenty-five rapntoWe^itizena of Cincinna under the BolcmnUiea of an = oath to trample upon all law, and bid defiance to the public sentiment of the State, and trifle with the best interests of the city. We are so filled with indignation at this disgraceful proceeding that we cannot permit our-M ■ self to comment upon it. If there is a man or i in Ohio that can honestly utter one word of I defense of this action, we pity hi* moral = sense, and Ipalhq his principles. If we were I- a liquor sciler we would look with disgust up4n such miserable subservience. On. the»• I' whole we think this action of th Cftv Conn-‘Prcnukd, That it is hereby distinctly declared to be a condition precedent to the above grant of licenses, that the persona hereby licensed shall take and adcept the tame subject to all the provisions and penalties of an act, passed March 12th, 1851, “To restrain the sale of spirituous liquors,” and especially that said licenses shall never claim to have any part of the money paid by them Into the City Treasury for such license* refunded; nor demand any damage or reparation from the City Council, on account of any decisions of the Courts invalidating said licenses, or imposing penalties upon the persons who may vend liquors uhder the alledged authority of any permission .or action of this Council.Mr, Warren called for a division of the Subject, on refunding the amount paid to the city, and tho claim for damages that may accrue by reason pf the judgments of Courts. The question being on the first part of the provision, to prohibit'the refunding of the money, deposited in. the,City lreasmy, m case of adverse judgments, the same wap decided in the negative, viz: ; '\ -Yeas—Mdssrs.
