Jello man still getting press: People whowere in Greenville about two years ago will almost certainly remember it — Hello, I’m Jello, a tiny restaurant that opened quietly on Miss. 1 in 1992 and ended up being written up on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.It closed eventually though, after the owner, Charles Shamoon, moved to Atlanta with plans to start a franchise company.And apparently, his dream is coming true so far. This week, the gelatin enterpreneur is featured in a full-page story in Newsweek magazine; the May 9 issue, to be specific.The restaurant has since been renamed what the magazine calls the not as euphonically-pleasing “Hello, I’m Gellatin,’’ due to a prolonged dispute with General Foods, the maker of Jello and owner of its trademarked name.But the chain is doing really well anyway, according to Newsweek. Very well, in factAfter he opened his first store in the Market Square Mall in Decatur, just outside Atlanta, sales jumped nearly 70 percent and Shamoon was doing almost as well as a local Baskin-Robbins.
