Burt Reynolds protects her in new Texas film NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Singer-actress Dolly Parton says she and actor Burt Reynolds yelled when they made the movie ‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”’ The movie, which will be released this summer, is Miss Parton’s second. Her first was last year’s ‘‘9 to 5,’’ with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. In the new movie, adapted from the long running Broadway musical, she plays a triadam. She was a secretary in ‘‘9 to 5.”’ ‘**T make a better whore than a secretary,”’ she quipped in an interview. Reynolds plays a sheriff who protects her place of business. ‘‘There’s one passionate love scene but it’s done tastefully,’’ Miss Parton said in her rapid-fire delivery — a delivery that makes her words seem like someone has pushed a fast-forward button. ‘‘It’s nothing to burn your pants off.”’ Reynolds, she said, was very professional. ‘He helped me a great deal,’’ she said. ‘‘We hit it off and had a lot of fun and we are similar in personalities. I think some people fell on screen and some simply don’t, but we did. “I think the movie will be great. It’s the best I’ve done.”’ She said, however, the filming was disorganized and the turnover in behind-the scenes personnel made the location work dif ficult. ‘I still love music best,’’ said Miss Parton, whose current song ‘‘Single Women”’ has zip ped up the country music charts. ‘‘It’s what I know best and what I love.’’ She first heard the song ‘‘Single Women’”’ on the television show ‘Saturday Night Live.”’ It’s on her new album, ‘‘Heartbreak Express.’’ “I loved the song when I heard it,’’ she said. ‘It’s a real good song, but it’s not get ting pop airplay like ‘9 to 5,’ so I guess some people didn’t believe it. I’m real proud of the album, too. It’s got good singles on it.’’ Miss Parton was a poor mountain girl when she left a two-room Smoky Mountain shack at age 18 to become a country music queen within 10 years. She just won a Gram my for the title song from ‘‘9 to 5.’’ Now 36, she plans to concentrate on her music for another 18 months to two years, then possibly consider a more serious movie role.
