By JERRY KING Mike Vargo hurled SIC to an 8-1 victory over Bend Lake for the first Falcon win of the year in the first game of a double header at Benton Thursday be fore Southeastern dropped the second contest, 12-8. Vargo whiffed seven batters, scattered six hits and walked only one in gaining the win. The Falcon offense bombed two Warrior pitchers for 12 hits, overcoming a 1-0 deficit in the first inning with two runs in the top of the second and six in the sixth inning. Mike Barnhill, Dan Nichols, Danny Venters and Doug Pat ton all stroked two hits while Harold O’Neal, Jerry Sutton, Deon Jones and Vargo had one each. Joe Griffith hurled the first five frames for the Falcons, striking out two, allowing six hits and issuing seven walks. Ventors came on in the sixth and was tagged for four hits before retiring the side. Southeastern, behind a 10 hit attack, jumped to a 3-0 lead go ing into the bottom of the fourth before the host school rallied for all 12 runs in their last three innings at the plate.
