Los Angeles, May .--(/?) How the strange rites of the “Voodoo cult’ were invoked to put a death curse on a young wife and her baby were related today in the trial of Charles Taulli and Florence Garo falo, charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Then witness, Barbara Ruth Tages, negro, told how she agreed to “put Taulli's wife out of the world, and with magic powers stop the birth of her baby expected eight months ago. She said Taulli and Miss Garofalo agreed to pay her $351 for her services. The pros ecution charges Taulli wished to kill his wife in order that he might marry Miss Garofalo. In a separate complaint, the negro mystic is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. “T worked hard on my black magic,’ the negress told the court “T must have miscalculated, though, for the baby was born and the wom an is still alive. When my work failed, Taulli and Miss Garofalo in sisted I do something else. Woman Present The 21-year-old Mrs. Taulli was in the courtroom occupying a seat among the spectators.
