Keith DistrictB'MWWB(From our Correspondent)— a-GYMKHANA AND SPORTSOn Saturday last. May 3rd. a successful gymkhana and sports meeting was held on the Keith oval. The weather was ideal tor such a gathering. and the Committee, headed by Mr C. A. Cook (president)and Mr G. Hill (secretary), made such arrangements as would ensure a smoothly-running programme.The new microphone and amplifier belonging to the local sub-branchR.S.L.. with Mr Collis Grimwood in charge, did excellent work on the ground.Afternoon tea was available, for a consideration, and a trading table conducted by Mrs T. W. Cook, did brisk business, and raised over £23.In the evening a bright variety concert, arranged by Mesdames J. Morton and J. T. Summers, drew' a crowded house. Items were rendered by a number of children, tastefully dressed, who gave a dramatised version of various nursery rhymes, while Roger Brazil and John Summers appeared as Ferdinand the BuH. ,Messrs George Clarke and Jim Dunbar gave an excellent rendering of The Whistler and His Dog, 'Fi with the dog well in evidence. Mr Stan Makin. as the heart-throb of a -nation, Frank Cinatra, provided the. next item, and then Miss Ruth Brazil ig*R.st.lt;11BWMWB-and a party of young folk gave a very colourful presentation of Little Yellow Bird, and for this an encore was demanded.Prizes won at the afternoon's sports were then presented by the President. who made an appeal for donations towards the work of the Community Centre. About £70 was promised.Next followed a comedy in three scenes, Pickles for Percy”, in which Miss Joy Densley. Mrs J. T. Summers, and Messrs G. Wheal, C. A. Cook, J. Bitmead and J. T. Summers showed their ability as amateur actors and carried off their parts extremely well.The accompanists were Miss Anne Petterson and Mr J.
