FLOYD COUNTYS OLDEST MOTHERSMrs. Margaret Tift, Age 94 TearsMrs. Elisabeth Walster, Age H Tears“I love old mothers—mothers with white hair and kindly eyes, and lips grown softly sweet with murmuredblessings over sleeping babes.”Marble Rock is justly proud of the fact that it is the home of the oldest mothers in Floyd county. Women who years ago passed their allotted three score years and ten, and are still enjoying an unusual degree of health and strength, who retain interest in the affairs of their families, theirtown and national events. The whole community does honor to them this Mother’s Day, and “their children rise up and call them blessed.”Mrs. Elizabeth Bonham Walster was bom at Wingrave, England, October 28th, 182. At sixteen years ofage, she with her people came to America, settling first in Ohio, later with her husband, going to Wisconsin, when that state was comparatively new and where her seven children were born, six of whom are now living to do honor to her in her old age. Mrs. Walster has been a resident of Marble Rock since 1888, and has ever been closely connected with the worth-while affairs of the town.Mrs. Margaret Janet Rankin Tift, was bom at Durvick, Ireland, November 2,1830. At six years of age she came with her parents to America, settling in the eastern states. She came o Marble Rock with her husband and family in the spring of 18-65 and has made her home here, orin this vicinity evei since. She has been the mother of five children, but one, Mrs. G. W, Gates remains to comfort her in her last years. Mrs. Tift is an interesting conversationalist and her reminiscences of the early pioneer days of Marble Rock, are always interesting. Both Mrs. Walster and Mrs. Tift have at all times, had the best interests of the community at heart. Inthe affairs of the church, the socialcircle and the schools, they have shown a keen interest., and have always been found willing to help in any good cause. We are glad they are with us this Mother's Day, and may their days be happy and peaceful.
