Mrs. A, E. Powell Dead.Amanda Emma Powell, relict of the late S. M. Powell, died at her home in this city yesterday afternoon 1 after a lingering illness. She wa3 horn in Linn county, Mo., April 27, ‘ 1548, where she spent her' young ■womanhood.Many years ago she came with her husband and family, S. M. Powell, to ChuJa, where they resided until Mr. Powell's death, which occurred in 1891, since which time she has made her home among her children.The surviving children are C. M. and Edgar Powell of this city; Mrs. Zelma Chapman and Ola Powell of 1 Kansas City, and Mrs. Kate I-arson of Chariton county, all of whom were in attendance at the funeral. Another daughter, .Mrs, l,ila Park hurst, preceded her to the spirit world several years ago.Mrs. Powell was a faithful member of the ChriHtian church, having been converted and united with the church in her early years, and always lived a devoted church life. She numbered hep friends and acquaintances by the hundreds and all testify to the pleasure derived from her friendship.The funeral servftes were held at Mt. Olive church this afternoon, in charge of Rev. Nickols of CMJlicothe, after which the remains were laid to rest by the side of her beloved husband in Mt. Olive Cemetery,* All business houses were closed from 12:20 to 1:30 in tribute to this good woman’s memory.—Chula News.
