The May weather is still very much like March and we shall be very glad when North Dakota has fewer snowbanks as the breezes from there are freezing. Hard colds and the grype have been afflicting the L H. Seath and A. D. Seoville families. Mr. Ellet has been overseeing the leveling of the ground for the two sidetracks and there are two car loads of stone on the ground for the elevator. Miss Margaret Petersen has been nursing in the Albert Lea hospital the past two weeks and with twelve patients the two nurses are very busy. Milk receipts are falling off and the call for hay is urgent as Many are buying who sold last fall. Supt. and Mrs. Lattin came up Monday and while Mr. Lattin visit ed schools Mrs. Lattin made some pleasant visits with relatives. Mr. Luther and his force are at work painting and papering for Mr. Peek. The young folks hung some May baskets but the flowers were absent. Some fine fish have been taken taken from the lake this spring and several have had a chance to enjoy them. We are glad to report Mrs. Hans Stensrud a little better and with her improved appetite hope she will re gain strength soon. At the school meeting in the vil lage Monday night $4000 was voted for a new school house and on May 11th at 2 P. M., the old school house will be sold to the highest bidder, in front of the post office. Mss Berey Seath returned from Albert Lea Tuesday and little Edith Peterson came up to her grandfather Soren Larson. The Freeborn section men had to go down from Matawan to within five miles of Albert Lea to unload two carloads of cvnders. The other section men being on a strike leaves things in bad shape. Geo. Hinkley shipped one carload of stock this week and has another about ready. He has purchased a span of bay ponies for driving. Mr. Allan Spencer has been here for a few days making old friends a pleasant call. Fred Baker, Willard Jones , Earl Longshore, George Snyder and Her bert Brooks have been working teams for the railroad, Hartland and Alden are both deliv ering meat here every week so we are not asking for a butcher shop the
