Detective Moses and Officer Pettit Come Very Near Having Serious Trouble on Vine Street,, Detective Eddie Moses and Officer John Pettit came very near having serious trouble on Vine street, near Seventh, night before last. It was the coolness on the part of the patrol man that in all probability averted a shooting affray. It seems that a policeman took it upon him self to give the detective’s son, Eddie, a shak ing up, and the boy went home and informed his father of the occurrence. He gave a de =tion of the officer, and Moses took it to the ettit. While the officer was walking along Vine street, Moses walked up to him and, grabbing him by the coat with his left hand, demanded the cause of the assault on his son. Moses’ right hand clutched a revolver which was in his overcoat pocket. Pettit was taken back at first by the unex pected encounter, and then coolly informed the excited detective that he did not know his son nor had he had any trouble with an boy. Moses pulled Pettit around by the col lar and forced him to accompany him to his home, on Ninth street, near, where it is supposed the matter was satisfactorily ex plained. Both are excellent officers, and it is to be regretted that the unfortunate affair oc curred. Colonel Deitsch will look into the matter this morning.
