For the Netudi Journal.Chinese Emigration to California.Rough and Ready, May 1, 1852.I have just received from ono of our , Representative!, the able report pre-j Rented to the Legislature by the Com-mitteo on 'Mines and Mining interests.’ | It is a subject, ns every one knows, ot : grave importance to California, and the matter should be well understood before acted upon ; for a bad law will entail mora evils upou the State in one year than can be remedied in five years, l ake, for instance, the law passed by the first Legislature, imposing a tax on foreign miners ; no ono can doubt that its effects were more injurious and caused more trouble, by spreading alarm abroad and discontent within, than all the good it ever did to California.
