County Court Judge J. R. Solomon sentenced two used car dealers to two years in penitentiary and said ‘their of fence was “the most despicable type of theft.” A week earlier he convicted Joseph Leo Mulligan, 32, of neighboring East Kildonan and John Joseph Klymchuk, 28, of Winnipeg on counts of conspir acy to defraud, fraud and false pretenses in connection with the purchase of a car last fall. Evidence at last month’s trial indicated Mulligan and Klym chuk agreed to buy a 1959 car for $1,850. Kamil Gajkosik, who was sell ing the vehicle, was given $100 as deposit on the sale and a cur rent cheque for $1,750. The cheque was returned be cause of insufficient funds, and Mr. Gajdosik went back to the car lot and demanded money. He was given another $100, but that was the last he received from the two men. Judge Solomon said the cat/ sale was a “cheap, deliberate type of an act” by two “smooth operators.”
