Sport ShortsBy Paul CarrollJack Horenberger, Bob Morrow, George Hails, and Melvin Brewer, Wesleyan’s omnipotent coaching ' foursome, have been spending the past week or so in the athletic office giving sacrifices to the deity of weather, praying hopefully for compromising days for the remaining events this spring./So far old Dame Nature seems to have it in for the Wesleyan teams, and not only lets loose with a volley of rain, snow and the like, during game days, but also has been quite nasty about things on practice days.Five out of the 13 ball games have been washed away, and the golf, tennis, and track aggregations have also suffered the brunt of the old gal’s volleys.It looks as if the weather is Wesleyan’s most aggressive spring time foe, and Titan opponents will have to go some to inflict more damaging blows.In the Elmhurst track meet, Titan cinder fans have discovered a new sensation in John Rodino, the pint sized athlete from Pontiac.Rodino’s name isn’t new to Wesleyan sports, however, for the “Rodent” was one of Don Heap’s finest linemen in pre-war 1940 days. In fact he was regarded by many grid fans in this area as one of Wesleyan’s greatest for that period.Rumors have been seeping into our offices carrying tales of the return of Hendry “Hank” Bennett, Illinois Wesleyan’s most prolific athlete during ’44 and’ 45.Bennett was twice the most valuable basketball performer, and was Brewer’s most valuable (Continued on page 5)
