Startzman Restaurant and Essig Store Robbed Loss Is Small. STARTZMAN ‘HELD UP’ Atlanta was visited by robbers early Sunday morning and while little was taken by the bandits they at least showed one resident of the town an exciting time. Péte Startzman, proprietor of a restaurant, was dozing at his place of business at 2:00 o'clock in the morning when three men drove up in a Chrysler roadster. Startzman was ordered to “stick up” his hands and while he was covered with a gun, one of the robbers rifled the cash register getting $30 in currency. Startzman was marched out to the auto and was taken to the Jacob Brenner corner south of the town and dumped out. While he was walking back to Atlanta an auto approached and thinking he could give the alarm and get into Atlanta to arouse the citi zens, he hailed the car. The auto contained the three robbers who were doubling back on their trail. Startzman was forced to get in the car and carried back home again only to be a witness to an other robbery. The gang stopped in front of the Chas. Essig store and while one man covered Startzman with a revolver, the other two shattered a glass in the door of the Essig store and proceeded to take up a collection of sweaters, caps and some cloth ing. They got no money. They also broke the lock on the gaso line pump and filled their car. This was not the end of the story for Startzman. He was tak en west out of Atlanta and dump ed out of the car in front of the Clarence Conaway residence. This time Startzman got back to town without meeting any autos. The Hamilton county sheriff was no tified but no trace of the robbers has been found. The men were total strangers to Startzman.
