Atchison Wrestler Defeated. George Hills, Atchison heavyweight wrestler, returned from Springfield, Mo., yesterday, where he met Toots Mondt Friday night. Mondt defeated Hills in two successive falls, each time with an arm and wrist lock. Hills had his left ear drum broken in the first five minutes of wrestling. He couldn't hear a thing and the pain was so great, all of the fight and con fidence was taken out of him. How ever, in spite of it, he remained with Mondt 56 minutes before Mondt suc ceedd in getting an arm and wrist lock on him. The second go went only 16 minutes. An examination by an ear special ist after the match, revealed Hills’ left ear drum had been broken. He still has a great day of pain in it, and is unable to hear anything at all through the injured ear. “GORGEOUS GORGES” WON BUT DIDN'T SHOW MUCH. Paris, May T—Although Georges Carpenter's comeback against Marcel Nilles gave him the French heavy weight title, experts who saw him knock out Nilles in the eighth round of a scheduled fifteen round battle yesterday, were not impressed with “Gorgeous Georges’’ s showing. It seemed as thoth a harder fighter than Nilles could have put Carpentier oway in either the second or third rounds. Sport Briefs.
