. Manchester, la., May 6—Funeral’ ervices were’ held on Wednesday TROon for A.D. Long, who died this home there on Monday, after long ‘illness, from pernicious nemia. Rev. J. Frank Moore endied the funeral sermon at the house and at the grave the Masonic burial service was carried out, with a large number of members of the Blus lodge and Knights Tengar paying their last tribute. Mr. Long ISO Was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Modern, Woodmen, Che: Delaware County. Bar associat ion attended and after the funeral held a memorial “service in the courtroom, at which were adopted resolutions... Members of the bar spoke in tribute to his memory. =. VAtval D. Long was born on his father’s farm near Delaware, In Feby 21, 1858, the son of Willian Ay and Iblgail Whitehead Long. After attending public school he was graduated in 1880 from Lenox college. He also took 4, commer cial course at Upner fowe univer sity and was graduated up as the law school of the State UMvers of Town . His earlier’ manioodt was spent ‘ mostly’ in South Dakota, where he, served as county judge of Hutchin soN county for several terms, and also conducted a real estate cand insurance business. He returned In 1806 with his family to Man chester and since had been promi nently identified with this as .He has been a director of 1 National bank of this city for nearly N a0tional 20 years; a director of 3 Life Insurance company of, Kansas City for 12 years; was mayor of Manchester for quoters; and held many other positions of trust and honor. He was married in’ June, 1887 to’ Miss Caroline B. Speater of Wartville.
