Few Business Rooms Housing Saloons Will Be Vacant After Prohibition Drives Out Liq uor Business May 24—Many Declare Plans Are Incomplete. WIFE OF MOONEY ASKS HIS RELEASE When prohibition birts Coshoctos ‘May 74 2: will not find the proprietors of saloons here unprepared. Plans for a number of different busi ness enterprises are already in the Process of formation by local saloon keepers and some plan to be ready to open in a new line on the morning t that prohibition goes into effect. A few of the men are planning to retire for awhile and enjoy a vaca tion before entering into another tine of business. With one or two exceptions nearly , every room where a saloon is now so stated has been spoken for and will be utilized by either the old proprietor or some new business enterprise. The sale of soft drinks and a lunch counter business sessems to be the f favorite, quite n nmber of present saloon owners stating their intention of opening in such a business imme diately after prohibition goes into ef fect. Thousands of dollars worth of equip ment for saloons in this city is value less now that its day of usefulness has passed. The great backbars and mirrors in one saloon was valued at $1590 at the time of its purchase and pe it were to be sold today it would ont bring 15 cents, declared the owner. Prospects for a new clothing store in the city are declared very strong in the Rodgers building, now occupied by J. W. Michaels. Michaels de clared Tuesday morning that he was thru and would not engage in business here again for some time at least. The building which he occupies is an geal business location and a del by which a New York run expects to put in a new clothing store is said to be under way. The Red Onion saloon, on east Chestnurst, has been closed since the death of John Michaels, proprietor, in an accident here a few weeks ago. The room so occupied by the saloon is gacant and as far as could be learned no definite plans for its occupancy ex ist. The saloon owned by Darling Wills and known by that name, Maine st. after ™ fay 24 will be vacated by the two present owners according to Present plans, declared one of the partners Tuesday morning. A soft drink emporium and lunch counter is one of the plans mentioned as a possi bility by this partner who stated that nothing definite had been decided upon Genrie Barnes, proprietor of the Coshocton Liquor Company, Mainst. Stated that plans were incomplete Thesday morning.
