William Allison Hamler was born on tbe 6th of August, 1866, near Wln-terset, Iowa, where he lived with his parents until he was thirteen years of ager when his mother died and ne moved with bis father to Webster, City. They lived there for a time and then went to Hartley, Iowa, where he lived until Borne twenty-one years ago when he came to thlB city. After coming here he worked for a time in the drug store of Dr. Nichols and then for nine years was employed as pbar-mar'M in the store of the late Dr. Wilkin, leaving here about ten years ago to embark in business for himself at Exira. He was in business at Ex-ira for a number of years, then at Tennant for a time, and two years ago moved hack here and opened a store In the Wilkin building. The Btore was recently closed and he entered the employ of the Atlantic Drug Company, being forced to give up his work there when taken 111.Mr. Hamler was married on Christmas day, 1888, to Miss Nola Newlon, who with their two children, Miss Lola and Earl, survives him. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Brownell of Spirit Labe and Mrs. Killam of Sioux City. He was a member of the . ^ Masonic fraternity, the Modern Wood-1 men and had been a member of the Knights of Pythias, although not now active in that organization.Besides his wife, children and sis-terB, who are left to mourn his death he leaves his aged father and mother-in-law, C. S. Newlon and wife of Ex-Ira, who are here at present, and two brothers-in-law, who are expected here tomorrow. Mr. Hamler’s father died about eleven years ago in Sioux City.Will Hamler was a man everyone liked- Genial, big hearted, a good husband and father, a kindly man and splendid citizen, no one who knew him had aught but good to say of him. The world which knew him mourns i; his passing.
