WftMBUWaa n IWU I VtTub London correspondent of the North Drituh Mail writes The new doctrine of * Re-incarnation' is said to be making rapid progress amongst the Spiritualists, though some of their number are very heartily denouncing it a* a thing second only in infamy to the Free Love theory. The leading expositors of Re-incarceration are Allan Kardee, a Frenchman ; Miss Blackwell, the poetess, who has translated the said Frenchman’s book on the subject iuto English ; and Mrs. Cora Tappan. In one of her recent addresses, uttered in irregular rhyme, Mrs. Tappan ciaims tlt; be influenced bv a spirit, who alleges that he flrst appeared on earth in the most ancient period of the Hindoo dynasty. After describing a great many consecutive births, he proceeded to de dare that he again entered the world as an Egyptian, the very one who planned the pyramids; next he was one of Egypt's shepherd kings ; after another succession of births he was ro incarnated in the person of Saul, Israel's rebellious king ; and since that bad experience he has been, amongst other persona, a Jewish child blessed by Christ in Jerusalem, a Christian martyr, a Christian priest, Michael Angelo, and s i on. This remarkable personage has now come down in the world greatly, for he is at present a spiritualistic poet. Through all the tedious succession of centuries the poor fellow has been socking his twin bouI or 'affinity.' It is lamentible to hear that Miss Blackwell believe she was formerly incarnate in the shape of Jezebel I presume she has come to take up with this notion siuce the appearance of Mr. Peter Bayne's poem, for that worthy Scot did his best to whitewash a name which Archbishop Trent describes as ' one of undying infamy in the Church of God.' If Mr. Bayne caused Miss Blackwell's craze ho has much to answer for.
