The head man killetfwas a sort of chief by the name of Au*tatih~waob, a \yfeU known Indian throughout the Indian country. Two or three years ago he had x son killed by one of his own nation, and some fourteen years ago, a brother called Mon-o-make, or CatFish, was killed by the Sioux tribe, to the enmity of which hia life has now fallen a sacrifice; and about fifteen years ago, another brother of this same man, Au-she-taaush, was killed anotherIndian, his own brother-in-law. This last one was an Indian who knew no fear.
