THE VOTES OF THE MINERSRESULT OF BALLOT ON THE TWO UNIONS TO-NIGHT.Tlir count commenced at Nottingham, this morning of the vote* in the miners’ ballot, which has been proceeding during the past week, and in which the men were to express the choice either of the Notts Miners’ Association or the Industrial Miners' Union, established airier the genera! strike bv Mr. (i. A. Spencer.^1 • P •The count was supervised by a well-known firm of Nottingham solicitors, and a former mayor of Nottingham acted as returning officer. There were 180 ballot iwxes and eighty tellers.Mr. Herbert Smith and Mr. Frank \arley represented the Miners’ Federa-tion nnd the Notts Miners’ Association.Officials of the new: Spencer union kept strictly aloof. There were no interestedminers in the vicinity of the hall. It is expected that the result will be known this evening.Officials state that they purjiose in conveying the result to the coal owners to remind them of their assurance that the men should have perfect frredom to belong to whichever union they choose.
