Saturday evening, April 29,A farewell party was given by the citizens of Al mens to Mr. and Mrs. ©. H. Miner at the home of Orlande Hager. Mrs. Luella McCool, with an original verse, presented Mrs. Miner to the as sembled friends as guest of honor. Mr. McKeown sang “Auld Lang Syne’? in his usual happy manner; Mrs. Chas. Finch read “The Old Clock on the Stair’ moat agreeably; Master Edward McKeown rendered a violin solo with much credit to himself and pleasure to his hearers. Mrs. Fred Hoodemaker was heartily applauded for her humorous verse, ‘Story of a Clock.” Augustus Teed made the gift presentation with felicitous remarks on deeds, not hours, 48 true measures of time, handing Mre. Miner « 810 gold piece minted in 1910, the year she came to Almena, and sug gested that the coin be metamorphosed into ad 's The affair was a perfect surprise to Mra. Minor, but she made a graceful speech of thanks. The exercises closed by singing, “God be With You till We Meet Again.’ Refreshments were then served. Since Mra. Minor came to Almena ae 4 bride five years ago she has taken great interest in the social life of the hamlet. Her activities have been chiefly in the interest of the community church, but all have had the opportunity to benefit by the talent, musical and other, which she has called in from her wide acquain tance. Almeena deeply regrets her go ing.
