The Merrill Record says: “J. II. iCalhoun came very nearly losing evory building on hU place laat Friday after-noan. A straw pllo about twenty rods from ttao place had boon burning for more than a week. Mr. Calhoun thought the straw had ail boon burned until that afternoon when, to his groat astonishment, ho saw sparks living from It and dropping1 among his hay stacks, sheds and barns. Several times the barn yard property caught lire and was lu immediate danger of being destroyed.
