lasuiuuon wuere 11 snouiu always nave ocen,in the hands of the State.Died in the Snow.—We are pained to learn that Mr. Maples, of Maples’ Ranch, near the Henness Pass, perished in the fierce snow •torm of the first week of April. He was returning from Sierra Valley, with a small fled load of flour, and had nearly reached home when he became bewildered by the itorm, was overcome by cold and sat down and died. Two men were living in his hoase less than an eighth of a mile from where he perished, and did not know his fate until hwt week, when his body was found by an-e4ber person who had been herding cattlelor him. The scene of this tragic event is a beautiful level valley, lying just beyond the summit of the Sierra Nevada, and near Truckee or Gold Lake. Mr. Maples had resided there for several years, and had a wife who abode with him during the summer season, lie was known to everybody who went to Utah last year by the Henness Pass route.Pony Express.—Another Pony Express reachedCarson.
