No. XIV. March 15, 1819.—The Commissioners laid off a new township as follows:—Beginning at the crossing of the Xenia road and Anderson State road; thence crossing the road leading from the mouth to the head of Stofilick, at a bridge next above the farm of Wm. Cowan; thence to the line between Miami and Stonelick townships, where the same crosses Indian Camp run. This township is not named, but supposed to be Wayne, and an election ordered to take place at the house of Joseph Smith. The election of Justice, took place 3d August, 1819—Jne Beatty, Joseph Laymon and Robert Smith, Judges, and Robert Leak and John Brunson, Clerks. Twen ty-seven votes were given, to wit:—Silas W Jor dan, Zach Cleavenger, Benj Laymon,Rees Carter, Nath Jordan, Abner Harris, Wm Harris, Jacob Taylor, John Candle, Benj Candle, John Meeks, George Hunter, Henry Stuitz, Wm Miller, Sol omon Smith, Sami F Randolph, Sam Cleaven ger, Theo Little, Robi Leak, Wm Higgins, Jno Bronson, Robi Smith, John Beatty, Joseph Lay mon, Jos Smith, John Randal and John Thomas. The vote was for Joseph Smith, 13 votes, Joseph Laymon, 14 Mr. Laymon was elected by one vote majority -a close vote. March 17, 1819.—Goshen township was form ed from Miami, with the following boundaries:— Beginning at the county line, N. West of Joshua Cox; thence along the N. East side of the road leading from Lebanon to Williamsburg, to with in one mile of Jesse Smith; thence crossing said road to the south side, to the line between Miami and Stonelick; thence with the line of Stone lick township to the county line; thence with the county line to the beginning. On the 8th of May, 1819, an election for two Justices was held in said township—Jesse Smith, Elijah Applegate and Peter Yost, Judges; Dani Roudebush and John Irwin, Clerks. Sixty-three votes were given, to wit:—Josiah Lyman, John Holly, John Huffman, Benj Thacker, Dan Man gan, Fred Weaver, Asa Owens, Stephen Taylor, Elias Thompson, Gabriel Kerns, Sam M’Donah, Andrew Mane, Robert M’Mullen, Silas Palmer, Coe W Case, John Irwin, Jesse Smith, George Smith, Dana Roudebush, John Fisher, Elijah Ap plegate, Geo Wood, David Kern, Jacob Kern, Jason Jay, Stephen Pray, Townsend Thacker, Jacob Stroub, Jacob Adams, John Margrave, Mi chael Mack, John Hammond, Andrew Fryberger, Edward G McCrey, Jacob Moir, Elias Wood, Andrew Shederly, Henry Shederly, Justice Gro ver, Jacob Stroub Jr., Jas C Hanley, Win Stou der, Eleazer Peck, Christian Pinkey, Geo King, Jacob Mack, John Roudebush, John Hunt, Joel Burger, Peter Yost, Loring Shields, John Tur ner, Peter Fryberger, Malon Smith, Edward C. Johnston, Thomas W. Brunson, Dani Mangan, Oliver Ellis, John Hill, Jacob Mulford, Joseph Derwacher, Adam Leever and Sam Fisher. The result of the election is as follows:— For Peter Fryberger, = 59 votes. « Mahlon Smith, oe James C. Feb. 8, 1820.—A law was passed constituting the office of county Auditor, and the election by joint ballot of the Legislature. Andrew Foote was elected the first Auditor of this county, in 1820, and continued in that office until the swell of partyism, in 1580, when he was beaten by John M’Williams. The vote being For M’ Williams, Foote. At the election in 1820, George J. Troutwine, of Tate township, was elected Commissioner.— The Board consisted of Shadrach Lane, Levi Pigman and Troutwine. June 7,1821.—The Commissioners appointed Jno. Kain county Treasurer, and Elijah T. Penn Collector. In 1821, John M’Williams was elec ted Commissioner in place of Pigman.
